The New York Times bestselling Orphan X returns – just when Evan Smoak thinks he’s done, his deadliest job yet pulls him back Into The Fire…

INTO THE FIRE: An Orphan X novel
by Gregg Hurwitz
Minotaur Books, January 2020

Evan Smoak lives by his own code. Once he was known as Orphan X. Trained as an off-the-books government assassin and spoken about only in whispers, Evan Smoak was one of the most talented – and most feared – men in the Program. But he broke free and reinvented himself as The Nowhere Man, a figure shrouded in mystery, known for helping the truly desperate.

If anyone is truly desperate, it’s Max Merriweather. Max is at the end of his rope. His cousin has been brutally murdered, leaving Max an envelope that contains nothing but a mysterious key. However, someone really wants that key, badly enough that Max – and anyone he turns to – is in deadly danger. What seems like a simple job for The Nowhere Man turns out to be anything but. Behind every threat he takes out, a deadlier one emerges and Evan Smoak must put himself in greater danger than ever before as he heads once more Into The Fire.

Gregg Hurwitz is the New York Times bestselling author of the Orphan X books, including Out of the Dark. Critically acclaimed, his novels have graced top ten lists and have been published in 22 languages. They’re admired in their community and are a loving family―until their world falls apart the day their son Sebastian is taken. A year later, Marin is a shadow of herself. She hires a P.I. to pick up where the police left off, but instead of finding Sebastian, she learns that Derek is having an affair with a younger woman. This discovery sparks Marin back to life. She’s lost her son; she’s not about to lose her husband, too. Kenzie is an enemy with a face, which means this is a problem Marin can fix. But as she sets a plan in motion, another revelation surfaces. Derek’s lover might know what happened to their son. And so might Derek.

CHESHIRE CROSSING brings together the heroines of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Wizard of Oz in a charming fantasy mash-up, brimming over with Andy’s trademark wit and nerdy enthusiasm, and filtered through a decidedly quirky genre perspective. Alice, Wendy, and Dorothy—after years of being labeled “crazy” for their insistence on the existence of other worlds—meet at Cheshire Crossing, a supernatural boarding school where they are finally believed and for the first time treated as the holders of special powers rather than freaks. They are meant to learn how to use and control their superheroic abilities, but quickly find themselves sucked back into their magical realms when a new threat arises. When the Wicked Witch and Captain Hook form an evil alliance to conquer the worlds of Oz, Neverland, and Wonderland, the girls must work together to save not only these fantastical lands but also Earth itself.

This « storybook meets superheroes » graphic novel features the original magical girls of fantasy embarking on exciting supernatural adventures in a tale that could only come from the imagination of Andy Weir and the illustrative sorcery of Sarah Andersen.

Les droits de langue française de CHESHIRE CROSSING sont toujours disponibles.

SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ALI GREENLEAF
by Hayley Krischer
Razorbill, October 2020

Ali Greenleaf and Blythe Jensen couldn’t be more different. Ali is sweet, bitingly funny, and just a little naive. Blythe is beautiful, terrifying, and the most popular girl in school. At a party one night, the girls’ lives collide when Ali decides she’ll finally make her move on Sean Nessel, the hottest guy in school, her longtime crush, and Blythe’s best friend. But when Sean pushes Ali farther than she wants to go, she is forced to confront a horrible truth—Sean raped her.
Afraid for his reputation and his future, Sean begs Blythe to convince Ali that he didn’t do anything wrong. Blythe complies because, as much as she tries to deny it, she’s been in love with Sean for years. She tries to befriend Ali, inviting her to the exclusive senior bathroom, letting her hang out with her gang of ruthless popular girls, and sharing her own dark secrets. But getting closer to Ali also digs up memories of the sexual assault Blythe experienced during an elite « initiation » she was part of as a freshman—one she’s expected to carry on as a senior.
In the aftermath of what happened at the party that night, Ali and Blythe must navigate tumultuous relationships, the effects of trauma, and what empowerment means to them.
