The first book in a big new thriller series by Gregg Hurwitz

ORPHAN X
by Gregg Hurwitz
Minotaur Books, early 2016

ORPHAN X is the most exciting new series character since Jack Reacher.  And Reacher would love this guy.  A page-turning masterpiece of suspense enriched by compassion and insight.”  – Jonathan Kellerman

Evan Smoak is Orphan X: a hero unlike any seen before. Trained in secrecy from childhood to be a superior assassin, he now uses those skills to aid desperate people in dire situations, removing the abusers from their lives and asking nothing in return, other than the forwarding of his phone number to someone else in need.  Though officially he doesn’t exist, he has powerful enemies from his past who want to eliminate him, and he hides from them in plain sight through a seemingly ordinary life in Los Angeles. In this inaugural book in the Orphan X series, one of Evan’s rescue missions goes horribly wrong, and Evan realizes the person he is trying to save just may be the person who destroys him.

Warner Bros has pre-empted the movie rights in a seven-figure deal!  Hot off his success in American Sniper, Bradley Cooper is attached to star and produce with his producing partner, Todd Phillips (the Hangover movies).

MURDER 101 de Faye Kellerman

Decker and Lazarus embark on a new life in upstate New York—and find themselves entangled in deception, intrigue, and murder in picturesque elite college town

MURDER 101
by Faye Kellerman
William Morrow, September 2014

bookcover-murder101As a detective lieutenant with the LAPD, Peter Decker witnessed enough ugliness and chaos for a lifetime. Now, he and his devoted wife Rena Lazarus are ready to enjoy the quiet beauty of upstate New York, where they can be closer to their four adult children and their foster son.

But working for the Greenbury Police department isn’t as fulfilling as Decker hoped.  While Rina has adapted beautifully to their new surroundings, Decker is underwhelmed and frustrated by his new partner, Tyler McAdams, a former Harvard student and young buck with a bad ‘tude. Just when he thinks he’s made a mistake, Decker is called to his first real crime here—a possible break-in at the local cemetery.

At first, it seems like a false alarm until it’s discovered that a mausoleum’s stunning Tiffany panels have been replaced by forgeries. Then, a coed at one of the exclusive local colleges is brutally murdered. Poking into the hallowed halls of academia to find a killer, Decker and McAdams are drawn deep into a web of dark secrets, cold case crimes, international intrigue, and ruthless people who kill for sport. Suddenly, the job is anything but boring. This case just might be too much to handle and Decker will have to draw on every ounce of experience that he has garnered in the past thirty years as a Homicide cop. And then again, even that might not be enough!

Chockstone Pictures acquiert les droits cinéma pour ALL THE OLD KNIVES de Olen Steinhauer

ALL THE OLD KNIVES sera publié par Minotaur au printemps 2015.

Ci-dessous, la présentation de THE CAIRO AFFAIR, encore libre de droits pour la langue française :

“Elaborate, sophisticated spy tale, a long, twisty road full of cleverly placed potholes and unexpected turns.” – The New York Times

“Combined with spot-on characters and smooth plotting, his novels, including this one, favor what feels like messy authenticity over Hollywood-style Bond adventures.” CS Monitor

« Steinhauer has once again produced an extremely well-constructed page-turner, this time set in Egypt during the initial Libyan uprising. » Indie Next

« An elegant, elaborate clockwork of mystery and deception that should draw readers in and keep them on tenterhooks as they try to figure out what is really making it all tick. … One marvels at the intricacy of its imagination and the elegance of its maker’s craftsmanship. » – Publishers Weekly

“A genuine page turner—cleverly conceived and intricately plotted. Steinhauer juggles political and personal loyalties with a master storyteller’s sleight of hand.”—Joseph Kanon

“The Cairo Affair is the espionage novel at its best, packed with betrayals, double-crosses, hidden agendas, moral conflicts, international relations, and even a delectable double-entendre of a title.”—Chris Pavone

Minutes after Sophie Kohl confesses to her husband Emmett, a mid-level diplomat at the American embassy in Hungary, that she had an affair six months ago while they were in Cairo, he is shot and killed.  Stan Bertolli, a Cairo-based CIA agent, has fielded his share of midnight calls. But his heart skips a beat when, this time, he hears the voice of the only woman he ever truly loved, calling to ask why her husband has been assassinated.  Omar Halawi has worked in Egyptian intelligence for years, and he knows how to play the game. But the murder of a diplomat in Hungary has ripple effects even back in Cairo, and Omar must follow the fall-out wherever it leads.  American analyst Jibril Aziz knows more about Stumbler, a covert operation rejected by the CIA years ago, than anyone. Sowhen it appears someone else has obtained a copy of the blueprints, Jibril knows better than almost anyone the danger it represents. . As these players converge in Cairo, Olen Steinhauer’s masterful manipulations slowly craft a portrait of a marriage, a jigsaw puzzle of loyalty and betrayal, against a dangerous world where allegiances are never clear and outcomes are never guaranteed.
